Road Trip, Part III

Monday, May 23: I woke around 8 and watched a bit of the French Open before leaving around 9.30. Today’s goal – Sioux Falls, South Dakota, about two hundred and seventy-five miles away. The drive was quite pleasant but still passed through primarily farmland, although I did encounter brief hilly regions soon after I crossed the Missouri river. Should have been an easy four hours or so away but I had the wrong address for my motel – it’s amazing how much of a difference a W instead of an E in an address can make. So I wandered around for three-quarters of an hour until a friendly neighbourhood Burger King girl helped me locate the place. In the course of my wanderings I noticed that Sioux Falls has a really quaint little Toyland downtown. That evening I stayed in, watching French Open highlights on TV and resting up for the next day’s longer drive to Mount Rushmore.
